Roz Zakheim: The Chief Justice of California has appointed Roz to the Judicial Council’s Advisory Committee on Access and Fairness, a statewide committee of judges and lawyers. We heard from Roz that: "The first meeting of my three-year appointment was in San Francisco in November -- really a wonderful group of people trying to make the court system more accessible to diverse groups. This is the kind of work I'd hoped to do when I went to law school, so it is nice to be able to do it, even if 33 years later."  We are very proud of Roz' fine work. Chellis Glendinning: (you may recall Chellis transferred to Berkeley after our soph. year.)  Chellis Glendinning, Ph.D., lives in Chimayó NM.  She is a psychologist and the author of five books.  Off the Map:An Expedition Deep into Empire and the Global Economy won the National Federation of Press Women 2000 book award.  Chiva:A Village Takes on the Global Heroin Trade comes out in 2005.  And she loves being considered a "Smithie." Kaethe Weingarten:  Kaethe is Associate Clinical Professor of Psychology at the Harvard Medical School. As founder and director of The Witnessing Project, she has developed a model for transforming the shock of witnessing violence and violation into the healing of active compassionate witnessing. Susan Gerli Smith:  Susan is a social worker in Fairfield County, CT. She serves on the Board of Union Center Samaiti, an elementary school for poor children in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, where the needs are great and donations are welcome. For more information: click here.
 

Carolyn Leigh Patterson:  (Also, see Carolyn's message on the Classmates page in our private area.)  Carolyn Patterson is cofounder and President of the Board of the Alliance for Nonprofit Governance, a NYC-based coalition of organizations and individuals dedicated to improving the quality of nonprofit governance in NY. She has been active in issues of nonprofit governance for many years. She was Vice Chair and then Co-Chair of the Nonprofit Boards Clearinghouse (NPBC) of the NY Junior League, an award-winning program that trains women from the NY community for board service and places them on nonprofit boards. She taught in the NPBC's board member training course for many years and also served as Director, External Relations, of the NPBC. Mrs. Patterson currently serves as Treasurer and a member of the Board of Governors of the Off the Record Lectures of the Foreign Policy Association. She has served as Treasurer of the National Association of Endowed Presbyterian Churches, as President of the Board of Trustees of the Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church, and as Chair of the church's Capital Building Committee. She currently is a member of the church's Session. In 2003, the NY Junior League honored Ms. Patterson for her community service. Prior to her retirement she held a variety of positions in trade policy in the US Government and corporate debt finance at Citibank. She holds a BA from Smith College, an MA from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and an MBA from Stanford University. She resides in NYC with her husband and daughter.

Janet Williams Harrison:  (Also, read Janet's message on the Classmates page in our private area.)  Janet Williams Harrison has been named Senior Strategic Advisor for the National Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in Dallas, TX Janet says, "Life is always full of opportunities and this is a perfect example of being fortunate enough to turn a difficult life experience into an opportunity to help others."  click here.

Barbara Lauren:  (Also, read Barbara's message on the Classmates page in our private area.)  Barbara Lauren now combines her legal and education backgrounds as Associate Director for Research at the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers, headquartered in Washington, D.C. She describes her work: "I translate from law to English on topics involving privacy, affirmative action, and other issues of special interest to mid-level managers in academia.
